Connect with us Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Contact us - connectcinemagic🤍gmail.com The Psychology of Entertainment: Why We Love Watching in Crowds We laugh more at movies when we watch them with others. We get bigger thrills from action thrillers. We’re more likely to cry during a tear jerker. When we’re with a bunch of other people, it’s as if our emotions are turbocharged. Why? One could say it’s our environment. Sitting in a darkened theater we focus more attention on whatever we’re watching. There are fewer distractions. We become more fully engaged with the experience. This provides part of the answer, but it’s certainly not the entire answer. One could also say it’s the technology. It would be hard to argue that a billboard sized image that fills our entire field of vision (especially one that gives us a 3D experience) is more powerful than the typical home screen. Back that up with a full theater sound system and you have a powerfully engaging experience. Certainly that might explain the higher octane thrills we would get in an action movie, but it doesn’t seem as applicable in a tear jerker or a comedy. Is a 40 foot high Rachel McAdams more emotionally compelling than a 2 foot high one? Possibly, but the explanation still seems to fall short. We know that we behave differently in groups than we do as individuals. At its most benign, it’s the shared experience of an entertainment event. At its most sinister, it’s the so called “mob mind,” a crowd induced mentality that through history is responsible for millions of lost lives. The power of synchronized emotion is immense. Connect with us Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Contact us - connectcinemagic🤍gmail.com Just off the southeast coast of the United States, there lies a span of ocean that’s long held a fearsome reputation. Ships traversing its choppy breadth disappear without a trace. Flights routed above the waters blink from radar screens, never to be seen again. The mysterious happenings have conjured stories of supernatural interference, alien kidnappings and an area somehow outside the normal bounds of physical reality. The Bermuda Triangle, it’s said, is a haunted place. That’s just one version of the story, of course. The Bermuda Triangle has been the site of a number of high-profile and still-mysterious naval and aviation disappearances. But that those disasters are the result of anything sinister, as opposed to the logical conjunction of environment and statistics, is extremely doubtful. Still, a number of people have proposed scientifically valid explanations for the disappearances of ships and planes in the Bermuda Triangle over the years. The ocean is a dangerous place, after all, and it’s not uncommon even today for things to go wrong. In the storm-tossed waters of the North Atlantic, safety is never a guarantee. Where is the Bermuda Triangle? The Bermuda Triangle, as it’s most commonly defined, stretches between Miami, San Juan, Puerto Rico and the island of Bermuda. In all, it encompasses hundreds of thousands of square miles in the North Atlantic Ocean, a huge area. The region also sees heavy traffic from ships coming and going from the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico. The Bermuda Triangle got its name from a 1964 article in the pulp magazine Argosy, which linked together a few disappearances in the region. “The Deadly Bermuda Triangle” didn’t offer up any explanations for the occurrences, though it did heavily emphasize the mysterious nature of the area. The article features the disappearance of the U.S.S Cyclops, a Navy supply ship, in 1918, and the loss of a flight of bombers during a practice run in 1945, as well as one of the search and rescue planes sent out after them. These incidents, and others, have today become part of the lore of the Bermuda Triangle. These stories are often stitched together to hint at something untoward lurking beneath the surface of the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to the supernatural explanations, a number of more realistic explanations for the phenomenon have been put forward throughout the years, ranging from wayward magnetism to dangerous bubbles. - Reference 🤍 🤍 - Additional Music Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. Connect with us Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Contact us - connectcinemagic🤍gmail.com The realm of oceanic navigation is one that consists of a number of superstitions. Among others, haunted ships have always been typecast as being omens of ill luck and potentially fatal incidents. In line with the popularity of such stories in the waters, the myths and legends of ghost ships have also often been depicted in movies and operas. But these depictions of nautical myths and legends often have been filled with exaggerations to enhance the imagery of ghostliness associated with the haunted vessel. The origin and the continuance of the myth, however, is completely different most of the time, though no less eerie. It is said that all legends have a basis in fact and the stories about Flying Dutchman bears no exception to this. Of all the spectres of ghost ships perceived to be seen and spoken out loud, the spectre of sighting the Flying Dutchman ship is one that intensifies the aspect of scariness and eeriness. The Flying Dutchman, a mainstay of maritime lore, is a legendary ghost ship that is doomed to sail the oceans forever since it can’t make port due to the rough waters. Originated in the 17th-century, there are a number of stories around the myth of Flying Dutchman, some point to a cursed vessel, while a few suggest the Dutchman refers to the captain of the ship, who destined not to make land despite all his effort. Most orbit other stars, but free-floating exoplanets, called rogue planets, orbit the galactic center and are untethered to any star. Most of the exoplanets discovered so far are in a relatively small region of our galaxy, the Milky Way. We know from NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope that there are more planets than stars in the galaxy. By measuring exoplanets’ sizes (diameters) and masses (weights), we can see compositions ranging from very rocky (like Earth and Venus) to very gas-rich (like Jupiter and Saturn). Exoplanets are made up of elements similar to those of the planets in our solar system, but their mixes of those elements may differ. Some planets may be dominated by water or ice, while others are dominated by iron or carbon. We’ve identified lava worlds covered in molten seas, puffy planets the density of Styrofoam and dense cores of planets still orbiting their stars. - Reference - Additional Music Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. Gein endured a difficult childhood. His father was an alcoholic, and his mother was verbally abusive toward him. Gein nevertheless idolized her, a fact that apparently concerned his elder brother Henry, who occasionally confronted her in Gein’s presence. In 1944 Henry died in mysterious circumstances during a fire near the family’s farm in Plainfield. Although Gein reported his brother missing to the police, he was able to lead them directly to the burned body when they arrived. Despite bruises discovered on the victim’s head, the death was ruled an accident. The death of Gein’s mother in 1945 left him a virtual hermit. In subsequent years, Gein cordoned off the areas of the house that his mother had used most frequently, preserving them as something of a shrine. Connect with us Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Contact us - connectcinemagic🤍gmail.com Osama bin Laden, the founder and first leader of the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda, was killed in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, shortly after 1:00 a.m. PKT(20:00 UTC, May 1) by United States Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group (also known as DEVGRU or SEAL Team Six). The operation, code-named Operation Neptune Spear, was carried out in a CIA-led operation with Joint Special Operations Command, commonly known as JSOC, coordinating the Special Mission Units involved in the raid. In addition to SEAL Team Six, participating units under JSOC included the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne)—also known as "Night Stalkers"—and operators from the CIA's Special Activities Division, which recruits heavily from former JSOC Special Mission Units.[4][5] The operation ended a nearly 10-year search for bin Laden, following his role in the September 11 attacks on the United States. The raid on bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, was launched from Afghanistan. U.S. military officials said that after the raid U.S. forces took the body of bin Laden to Afghanistan for identification, then buried it at sea within 24 hours of his death in accordance with Islamic tradition. Al-Qaeda confirmed the death on May 6 with posts made on militant websites, vowing to avenge the killing.Other Pakistani militant groups, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, vowed retaliation against the U.S. and against Pakistan for not preventing the operation. The raid was supported by over 90% of the American public, was welcomed by the United Nations, NATO, the European Union and a large number of governments, but was condemned by others, including two-thirds of the Pakistani public. Legal and ethical aspects of the killing, such as him not being taken alive despite being unarmed, were questioned by others, including Amnesty International. Also controversial was the decision not to release any photographic or DNA evidence of bin Laden's death to the public. In the aftermath of the killing, Pakistani prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani formed a commission under Senior Justice Javed Iqbal to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. The resulting Abbottabad Commission Report, which revealed Pakistani state military and intelligence authorities' "collective failure" that enabled bin Laden to hide in Pakistan for nine years, was leaked to Al Jazeera on July 8, 2013. It originally launched (along with its twin, Voyager 2) in 1977 to explore the outer planets in our solar system. However, it has remained operational long past expectations and continues to send information about its journeys back to Earth. The spacecraft entered interstellar space in August 2012, almost 35 years after its voyage began. The discovery wasn't made official until 2013, however, when scientists had time to review the data sent back from Voyager 1. Voyager 1 was actually the second of the twin spacecraft to launch, but it was the first to race by Jupiter and Saturn. The images Voyager 1 sent back have been used in schoolbooks and by many media outlets for a generation. The spacecraft also carries a special record that's designed to take voices and music from Earth out into the cosmos. - Reference - Additional Music Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. While Tesla’s star began to fade long ago, Elon Musk, who named his car and his company after him, has contributed to a Nikola Tesla revival. Nikola Tesla (July 10, 1856–January 7, 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, and futurist. As the holder of nearly 300 patents, Tesla is best known for his role in developing the modern three-phase alternating current (AC) electric power supply system and for his invention of the Tesla coil, an early advancement in the field of radio transmission. During the 1880s, Tesla and Thomas Edison, inventor and champion of direct electrical current (DC), would become embattled in the “War of the Currents” over whether Tesla’s AC or Edison’s DC would become the standard current used in long-distance transmission of electrical power. Police are unsure whether the thieves had hid in the carriage or cut their way into the train while it was moving. The theft was only discovered when the train reached its destination. The news has been prominently covered by Indian media, with some calling it "the great train robbery". Police say they believe that a group of six to eight robbers may have been involved in the heist, which took place between Monday night and Tuesday morning during the train's 350km-long (217 miles) journey from Salem town to Chennai (Madras). The coach was carrying 3.4bn rupees ($51m) - and security personnel guarding the money were sat nearby, in the neighbouring compartment. The notes belonged to India's central bank, Reserve Bank of India. But on arrival, when officials broke the seal on the carriage, they found chests broken open and a hole cut in the train's metal roof. - Reference 🤍 🤍 🤍 - Additional Music Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. Between 1961 and 1965 Cohen passed Syrian secrets to the Israeli government in what is remembered as one of the most daring and productive intelligence-gathering operations in Israeli history. Cohen grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, the son of Syrian Jewish parents. His fluency in Arabic, English, and French made him an attractive recruit for Israeli intelligence. He travelled to Israel for a brief espionage training course in 1955 and returned to Egypt the following year. Cohen, however, was expelled from Egypt along with other Zionist Jews in the aftermath of the Suez Crisis, and he settled in Israel in 1957. He worked as a translator and an accountant before once again being recruited by Israeli intelligence in 1960. After completing further training, Cohen was sent in 1961 to Buenos Aires, where he posed as an expatriate Syrian businessman. Using the alias Kamal Amin Thaabet, Cohen made numerous contacts in the Syrian expatriate community in Argentina and soon gained the trust of senior officials working in the Syrian embassy there. Those included the Syrian military attaché, Amin al-Hafez, who would later serve as president of Syria. Cohen made his desire to “return” to Syria well known to his new associates, and, when he moved to Damascus in 1962, his Syrian contacts helped him access the highest circles of power in Syria. He soon began to transmit information about Syrian military plans back to Israel. Cohen’s espionage work took on even greater importance when a Baʿthist junta that included several of his associates from Argentina seized power in Syria in 1963. The coup’s leader, Amin al-Hafez, continued to favour Cohen, and he reportedly considered appointing him deputy minister of defense. Cohen received classified military briefings and was taken on tours of the Syrian fortifications in the Golan Heights. Despite Cohen’s considerable talent for espionage, he displayed a tendency for carelessness, ignoring his Israeli handlers’ warnings against sending radio transmissions too frequently or always at the same time of day. That proved to be his downfall. In January 1965 Syrian counterintelligence identified his radio signal and apprehended him in the act of sending a transmission. Cohen was interrogated, convicted in a military trial, and publicly hanged in May 1965. What was our secret of success, that turned us from insignificant apes minding their own business in a corner of Africa, into the rulers of the world? Connect with us Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Contact us - connectcinemagic🤍gmail.com Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who first appeared in publication in 1887. He was devised by British author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based detective, Holmes is famous for his prowess at using logic and astute observation to solve cases. He is perhaps the most famous fictional detective, and indeed one of the best known and most universally recognizable literary characters. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote four novels and fifty-six short-stories featuring his creation. Almost all were narrated by Holmes' friend and biographer, Dr John H. Watson, with the exception of two narrated by Holmes himself and two more written in the third person. The stories first appeared in magazine serialization, notably in The Strand Magazine, over a period of forty years. This was a common form of publication at the time: Charles Dickens' works were issued in a similar fashion. The stories cover a period from around 1878 up to 1903, with a final case in 1914. They are read as much for their characterization and the stylised late-Victorian era in which they take place as for the mysteries themselves. More actors have portrayed Sherlock Holmes than any other character, and by 1964, according to a report in The Times, the worldwide sales of the stories were running second only to the Bible. While his Sherlock Holmes stories were hugely successful Conan Doyle was concerned that they were keeping him from more important work. As early as 1891 he shared with his mother his concerns about Holmes. “He takes my mind from better things.” As time went on Conan Doyle found himself more closely identified with Sherlock Holmes to the exclusion of his other works. “I weary of his name,” he told his mother. In his own mind, the matter was settled. Holmes must die. The only question was how? Conan Doyle wanted a dramatic finish for the great Sherlock Holmes. In 1893 Conan Doyle visited Reichenbach Falls in the northern Swiss Alps. After seeing the magnificent falls he decided the place would make a worthy tomb for Sherlock Holmes. _ Reference 🤍 🤍 🤍 _ Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. Connect with us Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Contact us - connectcinemagic🤍gmail.com Brendon Grimshaw purchased Moyenne Island off the north coast of Mahé, Seychelles, in the early 1960s for £8,000 when working as the editor of a newspaper in Africa. Determined to life afresh on this island jewel which today forms part of the Ste. Anne Marine National Park just north of the capital Victoria, in 1973, the journalist from Dewsbury, England, moved to his new island with nothing but a dream and has lived there ever since. The island, which had been abandoned at the time of purchase for half a century, was heavily overgrown but Grimshaw, together with a Seychellois named Rene Lafortune, commenced on his 40-year long labour of love that would see the island completely transformed. Over the intervening years, Grimshaw and Lafortune planted 16,000 trees by hand — including 700 mahogany trees that have grown to reach 60-70 feet in height and also constructed some 4.8 kilometers of nature paths before Lafortune’s demise in 2007. The nature lover has also attracted about 2,000 new birds to the island which he helps care for. He is also the caretaker of 120 giant tortoises. Grimshaw’s island now also holds more than two thirds of all endemic plants to the Seychelles. Grimshaw, who was offered $50 million for the island a few years ago, refused to sell, saying that he did not want the island to become a holiday destination for millionaires, but rather a national park for everyone to enjoy. Finally, in June 2008, after years of struggle to protect his island from privatization, Grimshaw’s Moyenne Island was declared a National Park in Seychelles. Brendon published the story of his connection with Moyenne as a book, ‘A Grain of Sand’ in 1996 and has over the years been the subject of many documentaries, the latest being one by Simon Reeves just prior to his death. Brendon was always ready with a story for the many visitors who beat a path to his door: stories of hidden treasure and of the painstaking development of his island home and his tireless conservation efforts. He was the quintessential islander and a devoted lover of nature who poured his love for Moyenne into the island for nearly half a century. - Reference 🤍 🤍 - Additional Music Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. Great Train Robbery, (August 8, 1963), in British history, the armed robbery of £2,600,000 (mostly in used bank notes) from the Glasgow–London Royal Mail Train, near Bridego Bridge north of London. The 15 holdup men, wearing helmets, ski masks, and gloves, were aided by two accomplices—an anonymous insider who provided sensitive train-schedule and cargo information and another person who provided a country hideaway, Leatherslade Farm in Buckinghamshire. The ring leader was Bruce Reynolds, a known burglar and armed robber. The robbers stopped the train by turning off a green track signal and, with batteries, turning on a red signal. The train’s fireman went to investigate and was captured, unharmed; the engineer was severely injured by a blow on the head. The robbers took about 120 mail bags by Land Rovers to their farm hideaway, where they divided the loot. Subsequently six thieves were hired to burn down the farmhouse but did such a poor job that the police found everyone’s fingerprints. With this and other evidence, 12 of the 15 robbers were caught, convicted, and sent to prison (none serving more than 13 years). One, Ronnie Biggs, escaped from prison in 1965, had his face altered by plastic surgery, and fled first to Paris, then to Australia, and finally to Brazil. In 2001 Biggs returned to the United Kingdom and was rearrested. Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. Among the wreck’s treasures — beautiful vases and pots, jewelry, a bronze statue of an ancient philosopher — was the most peculiar thing: a series of brass gears and dials mounted in a case the size of a mantel clock. Archeologists dubbed the instrument the Antikythera mechanism. The genius — and mystery — of this piece of ancient Greek technology, arguably the world’s first computer. At first glance, the piece of brass found near the wreck looks like something you might find in a junkyard or hanging on the wall of a maritime-themed dive bar. What remains of the mechanism is a set of rusted brass gears sandwiched into a rotting wooden box. But if you look into the machine, you see evidence of at least two dozen gears, laid neatly on top of one another, calibrated with the precision of a master-crafted Swiss watch. This was a level of technology that archeologists would usually date to the 16th century, not well before the first. The mechanism had several dials and clock faces, each which served a different function for measuring movements of the sun, moon, stars, and planets. The Antikythera mechanism theories range from out-of-this-world to firmly rooted in scientific evidence, but all of them will change everything you know about technology and history. The Mechanism Is Proof of Time Travel If the Mechanism dates to the second century BCE, and comparable technology didn't begin appearing until centuries later, then its existence might be proof of time travel - maybe whoever invented it was a time traveler from the future, or perhaps it's actually a futuristic device that was brought back to ancient Greece and left there on purpose. Aliens Gave It to Us The Antikythera mechanism is very old and was clearly a huge step forward in technology. So how did the ancient Greeks come up with the idea for it, let alone build it? According to The Ancient Aliens, they didn't: Beings with advanced knowledge of astronomical bodies, mathematics and precision engineering tools created the device or gave the knowledge for its creation to someone during the first century BC. But the knowledge was not recorded or wasn't passed down to anyone else. So, aliens either gave humans this device or the knowledge to build it, but didn't do anything to ensure that we learned from or built upon it. Seems like those aliens weren't really thinking ahead. #ancient history #astronomy Music: Power Music Factory Channel URL : Youtube.com/powermusicfactory Help us to make more videos by joining the channel : 🤍 - If you like the Video Please Do Like ,Subscribe and Share. Connect with us Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 ഓജോ ബോര്‍ഡ് എങ്ങിനെയാണ് വർക്ക് ചെയ്യുന്നത് ? | Ouija Board Explained The ouija , also known as a spirit board or talking board, is a flat board marked with the letters of the alphabet, the numbers 0–9, the words "yes", "no", occasionally "hello" and "goodbye", along with various symbols and graphics. It uses a planchette (small heart-shaped piece of wood or plastic) as a movable indicator to spell out messages during a séance. Participants place their fingers on the planchette, and it is moved about the board to spell out words. "Ouija" is a trademark of Hasbro, but is often used generically to refer to any talking board. If you’ve never used a Ouija board, the concept is pretty straightforward. With a group or by yourself, you place your hands lightly on a triangular pointer called a planchette. The planchette rests on the board itself, which has the words “yes” and “no” in its top corners, an alphabet in the center, and the word “goodbye” at the bottom. The idea is to summon the spirits you want to communicate with, and they’ll move the planchette around the board to spell out answers to the questions you ask — until they or you finally say goodbye and the spirits go back to wherever they came from. It all sounds pretty harmless, but there’s a long tradition of people believing that Ouija boards are dangerous occult gateways that can lead to demon possession or worse. After all, what happens if it’s a non-friendly spirit that’s moving the planchette without your control? This was a world in the midst of the Little Ice Age (1300 to 1850 C.E.) and a period of vast European exploration now known as the Age of Discovery. But what if we could look 500 years into the future and glimpse the Earth of the 26th century? Would the world seem as different to us as the 21st century would have seemed to residents of the 16th century? The answer to this question largely depends on the relationship between human civilization and our natural environment — its past, its present and, of course, its future. We've been altering Earth since at least the Agricultural Revolution of the Neolithic Age, and scientists disagree on exactly how many animal extinctions from even before that point should be lain at our feet . We manipulated the evolution of domestic plant and animal species, transformed the landscape and burned fossil fuels to power our way of life. What will life on earth be like in 500 years? Will humans still be alive or will be have gone extinct? 500 years ago, roughly only half of the earth had been thoroughly explored and colonized, and the Americas were home to indigenous civilizations, but were largely unknown to the rest of the world. People lived and died in the same homes, or at best, could aspire to end their lives no more than a few miles from where they were born. Yet today, globalism has connected the planet, and for most of the world, your future is in your own hands. The story goes that, after witnessing the destruction of Kalinga war Ashoka accepted Buddhism and renounced war. He subsequently created a supreme council of nine most intelligent men from the land, to collect information about various subjects and preserve, revise and update it. All this was done in absolute secrecy, and no one knew who these nine men were. They were asked to tour various places disguised as buddhist monks, spread ideas of Buddhism and non-violence and in the meanwhile collect information and continue with their research. If they retired or died, their successors (which were appointed by them) would take over and continue the work. They worked in nine fields namely 1)Propaganda 2)Physiology 3)Microbiology 4)Alchemy 5)Communication 6)Gravity 7)Cosmology 8)Light 9)Sociology. Their main objective was that all the advanced and scientifically developed information should not fall into the wrong hands. THe theory about the ‘nine unknown men of Ashoka’ came into limelight in 1923, Tolbot Mundy ,a British police officer who served in India, wrote a book on a secret society of nine men worshipping Kali Mata.Similarly, in 1960, in a book titled Morning of Magicians, the authors mention an interesting story about Pope Silvester II. In 900s when the pope mysteriously landed up in India. On his return he brought back various “weird” gadgets. One of it was a bronze doll who could reply to his questions in Yes or No. But when he decided to reveal it to the public, he was found dead under “mysterious” conditions. The video is based on the novel 'The Nine Unknown' by Talbot Mundy.it concerns the Nine Unknown Men, a secret society founded by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka around 270 BC to preserve and develop knowledge that would be dangerous to humanity if it fell into the wrong hands. Spaggiari was born in Laragne-Montéglin in the Hautes-Alpes département. He grew up in Hyères, where his mother had a lingerie store. Spaggiari is reported to have committed his first robbery to offer a diamond to a girlfriend. Perhaps as part of a deal made with the authorities, he later joined a paratroop regiment during the Indochina War. He was not present at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu because he was imprisoned for robbery at the time. During the Algerian War he worked for the Organisation armée secrète (OAS), a clandestine anti-de Gaulle and anti-decolonisation organization, probably more of a sympathiser than a real activist. Spaggiari was later sentenced to some years in prison for his OAS activities. During his imprisonment at the Santé prison, Spaggiari wrote his first autobiographic book Faut pas rire avec les barbares ("One mustn't laugh with the barbarians"). He then supported the nationalist candidacy of Jean-Louis Tixier-Vignancour in the 1965 French presidential election. In the ‘70’s, Albert Spaggiari, a mild-mannered local portrait photographer, masterminded a spectacular heist of the Société Générale Bank on avenue Jean Médecin, which involved tunneling into the vault… from the sewers! When Spaggiari heard that the sewers were close to the vault of the Société Générale bank in Nice, he began to plan a break-in into the bank. Eventually he decided to attempt digging into the bank vault from below. Spaggiari rented a box in the bank vault for himself and put a loud alarm clock in the vault. He set the clock to ring at night to check for any acoustic or seismic detection gear. In fact, there were no alarms protecting the vault because it was considered impenetrable: the door wall was extremely thick, and there was no obvious way to access the other walls. Tippu was instructed in military tactics by French officers in the employ of his father, Hyder Ali, who was the Muslim ruler of Mysore. In 1767 Tippu commanded a corps of cavalry against the Marathas in the Carnatic (Karnataka) region of western India, and he fought against the Marathas on several occasions between 1775 and 1779. During the second Mysore War he defeated Col. John Brathwaite on the banks of the Kollidam (Coleroon) River (February 1782). He succeeded his father in December 1782 and in 1784 concluded peace with the British and assumed the title of sultan of Mysore. In 1789, however, he provoked British invasion by attacking their ally, the raja of Travancore. He held the British at bay for more than two years, but by the Treaty of Seringapatam (March 1792) he had to cede half his dominions. He remained restless and unwisely allowed his negotiations with Revolutionary France to become known to the British. On that pretext the governor-general, Lord Mornington (later the marquess of Wellesley), launched the fourth Mysore War. Seringapatam (now Shrirangapattana), Tippu’s capital, was stormed by British-led forces on May 4, 1799, and Tippu died leading his troops in the breach. Tippu was an able general and administrator, and, though a Muslim, he retained the loyalty of his Hindu subjects. He proved cruel to his enemies and lacked the judgment of his father, however. The crew of the Boeing 777-200ER registered as 9M-MRO, last communicated with air traffic control (ATC) around 38 minutes after takeoff when the flight was over the South China Sea. The aircraft was lost from ATC radar screens minutes later, but was tracked by military radar for another hour, deviating westwards from its planned flight path, crossing the Malay Peninsula and Andaman Sea. It left radar range 200 nautical miles (370 km) northwest of Penang Island in northwestern Peninsular Malaysia. With all 227 passengers and 12 crew aboard presumed dead, the disappearance of Flight 370 was the deadliest incident involving a Boeing 777 and the deadliest in Malaysia Airlines' history until it was surpassed in both regards by Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, which was shot down while flying over conflict-stricken Eastern Ukraine four months later. The combined loss caused significant financial problems for Malaysia Airlines, which was renationalised by the Malaysian government in August 2014. The search for the missing airplane, which became the most expensive in aviation history, focused initially on the South China Sea and Andaman Sea, before analysis of the aircraft's automated communications with an Inmarsat satellite indicated a possible crash site somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean. The lack of official information in the days immediately after the disappearance prompted fierce criticism from the Chinese public, particularly from relatives of the passengers, as most people on board Flight 370 were of Chinese origin. Several pieces of marine debris confirmed to be from the aircraft washed ashore in the western Indian Ocean during 2015 and 2016. After a three-year search across 120,000 km2 (46,000 sq mi) of ocean failed to locate the aircraft, the Joint Agency Coordination Centre heading the operation suspended its activities in January 2017. A second search launched in January 2018 by private contractor Ocean Infinity also ended without success after six months. Relying mostly on analysis of data from the Inmarsat satellite with which the aircraft last communicated, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) proposed initially that a hypoxia event was the most likely cause given the available evidence, although no consensus has been reached concerning this theory among investigators. At various stages of the investigation, possible hijacking scenarios were considered, including crew involvement, and suspicion of the airplane's cargo manifest; many disappearance theories regarding the flight have also been reported by the media. The Malaysian Ministry of Transport's final report from July 2018 was inconclusive, but highlighted Malaysian ATC's failures to attempt to communicate with the aircraft shortly after its disappearance. In the absence of a definitive cause of disappearance, air transport industry safety recommendations and regulations citing Flight 370 have been intended mostly to prevent a repetition of the circumstances associated with the loss. These include increased battery life on underwater locator beacons, lengthening of recording times on flight data recorders and cockpit voice recorders, and new standards for aircraft position reporting over the open ocean.
