In this video, I used 4 different methods of playing games on the M1 chip: Playing Native ARM-based Mac games that have been updated to Apple Silicon, playing x86 Mac games under Rosetta 2, playing iPhone & iPad games by side-loading them using iMazing and finally, playing x86 Windows 10 games by using Crossover 20 to emulate them! If you saw my gaming on the new M1 MacBook Air video a while ago, you'd know that gaming is entirely possible on the new M1 Macs! In this video, I put my base model 2020 M1 Mac Mini to the test with some games in 4K and 1440p (2k) resolution. I play Fortnite, Tomb Raider, and Dying Light. The 4K performance was great on Fortnite, but not so much on the others. I believe this is due to the Rosetta 2 software taking around 20-30% of the performance. Once these games get updated, I will be back with another video! Windows gaming on M1 Mac compared: 🤍 In this video I discuss the performance difference in games between 1-10 CPU core allocation on Parallels Windows 11 ARM virtual machines. In my testing I discover that performance is variable but generally speaking, 6 CPU cores works performs the best in most games, despite the fact that this is over 50% of the CPU core allocation of my M1 Max chip (which has only 10 CPU cores).
