I can make a UI system without coding! Don't believe me? Well, with Unity's XR Interaction Toolkit and OpenXR I'll show you. Hey guys! I challenge you to find any VR game that doesn't use a user interface system.... Drawing a blank? Because it isn't done! Every single game uses a UI system and in this video I'll show you how to take Unity's XR Interaction Toolkit to your advantage and create a UI system WITHOUT CODING!! 😊 (I knew you'd like that) I would love to hear what cool UI ideas you have for your game or what existing vr games are using. I’ve been interested in AR/VR for a while. One of the obstacles I chased when I started learning AR / VR design was a lack of good resources. I wanted to prototype experiences quickly but I haven’t found any good tutorials, so I decided to make my own. In the video, I am sharing my workflow to quick 3D Prototyping. Enjoy 🤗. Also, if there's anything you cannot figure out or if you have any further questions or notes, don't hesitate to reach out. UI is essential for just about any game, in virtual reality it can be a different challenge since you can't design UI and stick it to a display like in many other platforms. In order to help you to create your own UI for your own virtual reality game I will be walking you through how to setup a basic UI that can be placed within your world all within Unreal Engine. Then we will add interaction components so that you can interact with your UI while in virtual reality. I do want to note, this tutorial is done in Unreal Engine 5. However, if you are working in Unreal Engine 4 the idea will be the same. The only significant change between both versions of Unreal Engine is this tutorial is a difference in the way the VR Character is designed. // SUPPORT ME ON PATREON 🤍 // FOLLOW ME ELSEWHERE Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 // COME JOIN THE DISCORD Discord: 🤍 // LOOKING TO HIRE MY SERVICES? 🤍 // CONTACT INFO For business inquiries: alexander.rodriguez🤍virtualreality-playground.com // CHAPTERS 00:00 Start 00:42 Project Setup 01:50 Introduction to UI Widget 05:12 Creating a Simple UI 12:38 Placing UI into the Scene 16:15 Setting Up UI Interaction for Virtual Reality 23:19 Testing UI in Virtual Reality 25:09 End

A quick design exercise. I wanted to update an older experiment of mine with all the things I've learned in the intervening years. I don't actually think the future of VR/AR UI looks like this. I think it'll be more about using virtual tools and direct hand manipulation on real or virtual objects. More like Job Simulator than Virtual Desktop.
This is definitely one of those things that should be more straight forward but can be done. If you are trying to display some UI on your spectator view this videos shows you how it can be done. While most designers have figured out their workflow for designing mobile apps or websites, processes for designing VR interfaces are yet to be defined. Some of the principles certainly transfer to the 3D world and over the years we have seen many 2D interfaces in Virtual Reality with mixed degree of success. What are some of the core differences when designing user interfaces for VR? When does it make sense to use 3D user interfaces and how to make the most out of them without burdening the user? Learn the answers to these questions and many more during this "out of the box workshop" that will take place partially in VR
