A new patch (1.14) has been released for RDR2, and the patch notes claim that the CPU related stutters on 4 and 6 core CPUs should be improved; we can check the patch notes here: 🤍 -UPDATE (Nov 19th): and another patch and Hotfix driver from Nvidia (441.34) released: 🤍 As a reminder, my PC specs are the following: -CPU: i5 4690K🤍4.4 GHz with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. -Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (Z97). -GPU: Inno3D Twin X2 GTX 1070 (stock) and WHQL driver 441.20. -RAM: 16 GB DDR3🤍1866, 9-10-9-28. -Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB (O.S.), Samsung 750 EVO 500 GB (Game). -Case: Fractal Design Meshify S2. -PSU: Corsair RMx 650W 80+ Gold. -O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates. -Monitor: AOC AGON AG251FG 1080p-240Hz. As seen in the video, no matter the settings, the CPU stutters and freezes seem to be gone, after applying the recommended launch parameter “-cpuLoadRebalancing”, to the launcher settings for RDR2. The patch seems to truly improve all the major issues I experienced when testing the game last week when it launched. The fact that Rockstar didn’t realize they could fix this before releasing the game, or that they chose to ignore the issues and releasing it anyway, makes this situation a bit awkward indeed, because there’s no way we can believe that they didn’t even realize this was a big issue in the first place. In any case, it seems the patch really improves things, so at least there’s that. A new graphical setting, “Tree Tessellation” has been introduced, which separates the use of tessellation for trees from the rest of the normal usage on things like roads, terrain, etc. When this setting is enabled though, the performance impact seems to be between 8-10% in the benchmark, up to 20%+ in game where lots of trees are present in scene. It’s a huge impact for a little bit of visual enhancements up close, it really makes the trunks more realistic, but the cost might be a bit too high for some people, so use with caution and adjust other settings accordingly too if you want to use Tree Tessellation. I’m not sure if the other issues with the game, like the launcher crashing have been completely fixed, as my launcher stopped crashing in the previous launcher patch already, but hopefully they have resolved that one too. Another RDR2 patch released a couple days ago, on Nov 19th, and this one tackles once more the 4 and 6 core CPU stutter and freezing issue, as promised by Rockstar, they have been working with Nvidia to get this fixed, and this time around we also need to install a Hotfix Driver, 441.34, which we can get from here: 🤍 We also have updated patch notes here: 🤍 and the proper instructions for those using 4 and 6 core CPUs and still suffering stutters and/or freezes, are here: 🤍 Basically: remove the launch parameter needed in the previous update (“-cpuLoadRebalancing”), that is not needed anymore; install the 441.34 Nvidia Hotfix driver, and that’s it, the game should run with no stutters or major freezes, according to the official notes from Rockstar. If you running RDR2 at 1080p the image can be kinda blurry even at max settings. You can use resolution scale, but that will eat all of your FPS, or you can use this simple reshade preset and have a nice clear and crisp image, without losing almost any FPS. You can make similar results with in game TAA sharpening, but I think that the combination of TAA and reshade preset looks the best. But its a matter of personal taste I guess. It is a small difference, but when you try it in game you will notice it since it has much bigger impact in game.
