This plugin allows you to create a range of fairly complex hedges, espallier and topiary by drawing their plan, front/side views and their combinations. The user only needs to check for consistency between views. The number of polygons (leaves and/or flowers) can be freely set, up to a limit of 20.000 polygons to avoid memory problems. INTRO: The need that this tool addresses is the need for mesh variation of foliage, and adding this in a powerful procedural and nondestructive fashion. This is not a scattering tool. It is a mesh variation management tool that uses scattering information to create vastly more variation and organic differences. It is designed to be intuitive, uncluttered and artist friendly. MORE: Some mesh variation can be achieved with Unreal’s built in procedural tools, but the process is cumbersome and just adding a variation requires copying variables, creating a new foliage type asset, and precariously rebalancing the entire foliage simulation. Actually, the Procedural Foliage Spawner can create quite interesting scatters and gradients of foliage, but it stops short of making this usable. Both small and large instances will inevitably use the same static mesh. This cripples an otherwise powerful feature. Vik’s Foliage Tool steps in at this point in the process and adds a procedural layer with size-adaptive mesh variations, variations within size with rarity sliders, dead variations with death chance, noise and convenient post size level adjustment and more. Pretty much everything to create natural organic looking forests, except the trees... Another benefit is that the foliage simulation used can be extremely simple; a single foliage type, since all variation is handled by this tool. This makes tweaking and getting the most out of Unreal’s procedural tool much easier and it unlocks its full potential.

Hello friends! A few days ago on stream we experimented with adding logic to our Foliage instances - this is pretty crazy because it means we can have per-instance index material changes keeping the foliage instances the entire time, as well as having individual "stats" for each piece of foliage. This can be useful for interactive foliage, breakable objects like crates and pots, trees that drop fruits/leaves, and much much more!
