Highfield Resources Ltd (ASX:HFR) CEO Ignacio Salazar speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive after updating the feasibility study for the company's Muga Project. Salazar explains the rationale for the update, describing it as a reaffirmation of the "outstanding" numbers to a large extent. He highlights that 93% of the initial capital expenditure is now backed by firm offers or contracts. He goes on to outline the next steps, including some "relatively minor but important" but preliminary work that the company can achieve in advance of construction being fully green-lit. Salazar also discusses a salt offtake agreement with Maxisalt, a significant global trader, reinforcing the strategic importance of salt in their portfolio alongside potash. Salazar further explained the dual role of salt as both a revenue stream and an environmental strategy, with surplus used to backfill the mining project. Financing discussions revealed a secured €320 million with competitive private finance, and ongoing efforts with Macquarie and other entities to close the financing gap. Addressing the volatile potash market, Salazar attributes the price surges to COVID-19 impacts and geopolitical tensions, particularly sanctions on major potash producers Belarus and Russia. He anticipated a strong long-term potash market, reinforced by halted Russian projects. #HighfieldResources #IgnacioSalazar #MugaProject #PotashMining #FeasibilityStudy #ConstructionUpdate #GlobalInflation #MiningEconomics #Capex #FinancingStrategy #OfftakeAgreement #PotashMarket #GeopoliticalImpact #ResourceDevelopment #MiningIndustry #SpainMining #PotashPrices #InvestorUpdate #MiningCEOInterview #ProactivInvestors #ResourceSector #ProactiveInvestors #InsertCompanyName #InsertStockMarket LEAVE THESE IN AS STANDARD & ADD ANY YOU FEEL ARE RELEVENT #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Belorussia and Russia are the second and third largest potash producers in the world (after Canada) accounting for over 30% of global production. He explains that the other issue Belarus has is with exports, it is a landlocked country and exports around 80% of its production through Lithuania. Belorussia recently declared force majeure after the Lithuanian Rail company terminated its agreement to rail potash from Belorussia to the port it uses to export potash.

A pinch of proven management, a dash of project location and a teaspoon of great assets are just three of the essential elements that go towards making a successful resources small-cap company. But there are others, and seldom has it been more timely to dig into the sector and find out what they are. After all, resources have been on a tear recently. Consider two of the firms mentioned in the last episode of Buy Hold Sell. Pilbara Minerals (ASX: PLS) has risen 464% in the past year, while Aeris Resources (ASX: AIS) has jumped 167%. But then this cyclical and capital-intensive sector is also prone to dramatic peaks and troughs. For this reason, it's important for investors to be able to recognise the signposts, macro and micro, that signal just where we are in the cycle. In this thematic episode of Buy Hold Sell, Livewire's Ally Selby is joined by two small-cap resources specialists, Eley Griffiths Group's Tim Serjeant and Argonaut's David Franklyn who share their insights into when to buy, and the ideal combination of ingredients that make a resource company successful enough to reward your investment. Note: This episode was filmed on Wednesday, 27 October 2021. You can read an edited transcript below: 🤍
Interview with Peter Albert, Managing Director of Highfield Resources (ASX: HFR) Highfield Resources are an Australian potash developer with assets in Spain. They have just received an environmental permit for their flagship project, the Muga Project, with plans to produce in two phases: 500,000 tonnes of potash in the first phase, and 500,000 tonnes in the second phase. Potash is a "commodity like no other commodity;" it is a potassium-rich salt, and is one of the three key components of fertiliser application. It is used for growing crops to improve yield. There is currently a market of almost 70 million tonnes growing at 2.5% per annum. While the end-users are always farmers, this is not the sole sale option, because cooperatives, half-takers and blenders are viable buyers. Barriers to entry are extremely high, and 75% of the market is dominated by roughly 8 players producing huge amounts of potash. Potash demand is consistent because of the global needs of farmers. In terms of Highfield's position in its development cycle, they are beyond feasibility studies and are focussing on detailed engineering, obtaining final permits and sourcing specialist equipment. There is still work to do before the first shovel can go into the ground; there will then need to be another 2-year build before the project is fully functional. Highfield estimates a 12-18 month timeframe to get all of the remaining permits in place. Highfield is "reasonably well cashed up," with reserves of €30m ensuring the company's stability. Future major project commitments will require appropriate financing to be put in place. Highfield Resources has an experienced management team located in Spain and a board with extensive mining delivery experience: pleasing news for any prospective investor. They prioritise low environmental impact operations and positive social outcomes and see themselves as a green future solution. Highfield has a market cap of AU$240.55M and their share price has fallen considerably in the last few years down to AU$0.73, but Albert insists the market simply hasn't clocked the huge potential of the project yet, evidenced by Highfield's NPV of AU$3 billion. While this is what we hear from every CEO in the world, is it factual on this occasion? What did you make of Peter Albert? Is potash a commodity that interests you? Comment below.
